January Business Spotlight: Bonnie Ross-Parker
“Don’t judge a book by its cover”
That old idiom warns us that something’s value is not always obvious on the surface… and that we should take a deeper, closer look. But in the case of Bonnie Ross-Parker, author of “Walk in My Boots – The Joy of Connecting” and “Y.O.U. Set a High Standard For Being Human,” you can be supremely confident that both of her book covers reflect “the real McCoy.”Yet, this author, professional speaker and community service award winner regularly introduces herself as “a silver-haired grandmother who ALWAYS wears cowboy boots.” Don’t be fooled by her modesty. Standing tall in those boots is actually an influential, multi-dimensional entrepreneur with a background in education, franchise development, publishing, mentorship, network marketing, and community development, who uses her unique set of skills to share her expertise and to connect with others. It’s connecting with people, and connecting people with one another, that makes Bonnie tick – no, vibrate intensely - with her high energy that attracts and brings out the best in people.
“I’m passionate about women being successful in business,” says America’s Connection Diva and host of the renowned “Joy of Connecting” events, attended by over 1000 women since Spring 2002. “As a businesswoman without a mentor of my own, I wanted to play a powerful role in bringing successful women together to grow their businesses in an informal setting. These gatherings give participants an opportunity to create new relationships, foster personal and professional bonds, and be in an environment that supports and honors who they are and what they do,” Bonnie says. “From this, I wrote “Walk in My Boots – The Joy of Connecting” to give readers everywhere the opportunity to experience “walking in my shoes,” getting in step with one another and to continue sharing our journeys together. My book shows you how you can turn connecting with other people into a fantastic, satisfying, and even magical experience, and still do business.”
“But hey, Bonnie, what’s up with those boots?” A trend-setter in her own right, she nevertheless followed the fashion lead of her motivational speaker/author husband Phil who convinced her of their comfort. Today, “Bootgirl” owns over 70 different pairs. And they’re obviously getting her where she wants to go: paid speaking engagements across the country and on the fast track to even more recognition and success!
